Julie’s love for Golden Retrievers started over 25 years ago when she purchased a Golden Retriever named Rhea from a ‘backyard’ breeder. After researching Goldens and English Springer Spaniels, Julie decided on the Golden as her first Sporting Dog. That was to start a love affair of a lifetime. Julie spent several years competing in obedience with first Rhea UD, than with OTCh Dax UD. Julie learned about the breed’s wonderful qualities of trainability, their drive and their willingness. It was when OTCH Fire UDX came on the scene some 15 years later, that Julie’s desire to breed the multipurpose golden came about. Fire’s first litter produced Julie’s first home bred obedience trial champion, OTCH Shine UDX.
Holly's career in showing dogs started back around 1995. She trained Julie's retired OTCh dog Dax for showing in UKC obedience and 4-H. They had a great time showing, scoring many Highest Scoring Junior Handler in obedience awards. In June of 1996 Holly and Dax traveled to Kalamazoo, Michigan to attend the UKC's TOP GUN International Obedience Competition. Where they got first place in their class and Highest Scoring Junior Handler. Holly showed Dax to the UKC U-CDX level. Around this time Holly also started training and showing Dax for the 4-H Fair. This is where Holly was introduced to showmanship and handling classes. After a few 4-H sessions we realized that Dax wasn't cut out to do the "show dog" thing so out came Storm to help Holly learn how to do Junior Showmanship. After awhile Holly learned that she really enjoyed doing this type of dog activity and decided to try it for real. Holly showed Storm in AKC juniors classes a few times but she decided that she wanted to do this with a "real show dog" so after proving herself, Julie decided to get Wyndy for Holly. She has been hooked since!
