OTCH Holman’s Skyler of Bijoux UDX3 OM2

Skyler and I finished her OTCH on October 3, 2009 at the Lincoln show, also taking High Combined score that day.
Skyler’s career has amazed me—she has so often given her all in anything I’ve asked of her. When I adopted her eight years ago from John Holman, it was with the lofty goal of training a dog with the ability to qualify consistently at obedience trials. I had previously worked with rough and smooth collies and Boston Terriers, and qualifying was often the challenge of the day.
As I started working with her, though, it amazed me to see how quickly she could learn something new—and the level of enthusiasm she brought to every task.
She has been such a joy and our journey to her OTCH filled with memories of her and I “clicking”…something a competitor in the sport of obedience totally understands and what kept me going more than a judge’s idea of our “score.” We managed to attain numerous placements, High in Trials and High Combined scores, 2 Master Obedience titles, UDX3 and two qualifying legs in agility with a first and second place.
She has been a willing partner, friend and family member and now enjoys days of walking on the trail and playing ball and Frisbee—eight years of trying to be “perfect” in all of our exercises deserves that kind of retirement—there will never be another like her.
